![]() ![]() ![]() I would like to replace the key fob entirely with one from Amazon, but from what I understand, that would require putting the car into programming mode, which the valet key cannot do.ĭoes anyone know how much it costs approximately to have Toyota reprogram the car with new keys? I've seen some sources online saying as low as $100 and as high as $2000 (new ECU?). The key also likes to randomly lock the doors, which is a real pain in the ass, so I'm guessing something's wrong with the electronics too. I replaced the casing, but the after market one I got is an even mushier piece of crap and all the pictures on the keys wore off in no time. I didn't really care after that point since I was able to manually set the glove box lock to the unlocked position.įast forward to today a year later, the key fob is worn out and the buttons are very hard to press. I got in touch with the previous owner (not the original owner) but he couldn't find nor remember the car having any other keys. That's when I learned that both of these keys are actually valet keys (one is the original valet key and the other is a copy of it). ![]() I took apart the mechanism and replaced the broken handle, but in the process realized neither of my keys can actually open the lock on it. The car had an issue where the glove compartment kept falling open really easily. So as the title states, I bought a used 2005 Toyota Sienna two years ago that came with a key fob and two keys.
